History of AAAS
2019/2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of ethnic studies programs at UC Davis. African American and African Studies was born out of student activism. The five documents on this page recount the key goals and demands of the students who advocated for the founding of Black studies at the University of California Davis, starting in 1969.
