UC Davis African American and African Studies Capitol Internship Program

The UC Davis African American and African Studies Capitol Internship Program is a distinctive public policy program for undergraduate African American and African Studies majors at UC Davis. This program provides AAS majors the opportunity to study coursework focusing on public policy and the impact it has on the African American and African communities. This program also provides the unique experience for students to gain hands-on work experience interning in and around the state Capitol.

Students must take AAS 080, Introduction to Black Politics, as a prerequisite in Fall 2022 with Dr. Angelo Williams at UC Davis. Once students have taken AAS 80, they can participate in the legislative internship with Dr. Angelo Williams at the Capitol in Winter 2023.

Program Eligibility

- Must be an African American and African Studies Major at UC Davis

- Students must have taken AAS 080, Introduction to Black Politics, as a prerequisite in the Fall with Dr. Angelo Williams

-Student must have a B grade or higher in AAS 080

Application

Students will receive 4 units of course credit to participate in the internship (AAS 192). This course will go towards AAS major requirements. Please complete the application below:

AAS Capitol Internship Application (AAS 192 form and short essay questions).
