Bio

Seon-Hye Moon is a PhD candidate in Cultural Studies at UC Davis. Her dissertation explores the intersection of embodiment, labor, political economy of education, and neoliberalism. She examines the ways that workers comply with, resist, and refuse neoliberal encroachment through embodied practices and how these practices illuminate new socialities, critical knowledges, and lines of inquiry. Her work is guided by the commitments of ancestral and contemporary thinker-doers who comprise the interdisciplinary fields of ethnic studies, feminist materialism, black feminist theory, critical education studies, and critical gender studies. Prior to graduate research, she established her career in investment research and later, nonprofit management. As a mom of two, she is proud to be a student of Gen Alpha teachings.
